My career path has led me to a better understanding of my passions.
Directly out of college, I was hired to work for Community Living Opportunities, an agency focused on the well being and independence of children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Lawrence and Kansas City areas. My clients and their families inspired me and the experience strengthened my passion for advocating for those who can be forgotten by society at large. The intersection of state policy and services for residents inspires me to follow legislation and get try to get involved where I can in my community.
At every point in my career path, I have worked for small businesses. This wasn’t a conscious choice at first but become one of the most important factors in choosing who I work with and where I put my energy. Each Realtor I work with is their own small business, each website I work on is part of someone’s livelihood, and my event planning and service industry experiences were with businesses owned by people I am lucky enough to call friends. I see the impact their businesses have on their families, their employees and their communities and it makes me want to work twice as hard for half the price to enrich all of our lives.
